A few weeks ago I competed in a friendly get together of crossfit gyms around the SLC area. The workout of the day was:

Hoping to get up the LCC tomorrow to pick up ski passes and hit the snow for the first time this season! School has been monopolizing my time!
This company was the brain child of Abbott Smith who has brought together a team to make things happen. Abbott is a competitor on the Freeskiing World Tour in addition to being an avid back country touring enthusiast. These guys are based out of Golden, Colorado so I know these packs will be what people need. Their special touch; thermoforming protection for spine and kidney safety and ‘Worst Case Scenario’ frame that can be used as a split or shovel. Look for them to drop in December09/January10.
Base Camp and Abbott have decided to make a SheJumps edition set of packs and a vestpack. Peep the possible set up before others:
Our good friend had a birthday party over the weekend, and in true style there was a red carpet photo shoot. Ross Downard of Mtn Ranks did an amazing job. Hollywood has nothing on Cocktail alley in the Salt City.

Bragg Sisters.

So for one of my classes, environmental psychology, I read some articles about the places we visit on a regular basis.
SheJumps posted some of it on their website:

I did even more than what is pictured, summer was jam packed full of fun. I’m back in school for the first time in 3 years and getting my butt kicked. all fun and dandy though. I will try and get back into some weekly posting. Hope you all have a fun summer as well!!
In the past if you happen to glance my way while I’m chilling on the mountain you may have gone temporarily blind because I wasn’t wearing a shirt and the white of my belly reflects the sun better than the snow. Now though, it might be the amazing bling on my wrist flashing backatcha!
Wanted to let you all know about the most excellent watches around, Rockwell Timekeepers. In their mission statement they claim a “100% commitment from our athletes to their sport, and their representation of Rockwell on the track, court, cage, and field(I’m adding Slope to the list). And a commitment from everyone who rocks Rockwell to live a life of uncompromising action and confidence”
This is a brand I can stand behind based on their mission as a company and I feel even better about these guys because this company is based in the one and only Salt Lake City, UT!!

I’m joining a team with members ranging from Deron Williams of the Utah Jazz, supercross star Davi Millsaps, professional snowboarder Drew Fuller, and olympic volleyball gold medalist Ryan Miller. Stoked on this opportunity and the bad ass timepiece I now have.

Forecast: Stylin with a 100% chance of knowing the time
Last night I attended a mini workshop on the Wasatch Canyons Master Plan. At this point they are in round one which consists of figuring out what the issues, priorities, and strategies are from the participating public. The 20 year plan is about to expire from its initiation in 1989 and the update will address plans for the same canyons (City Creek, Emigration, Red Butte, Parley’s, Millcreek, Big Cottonwood, and Little Cottonwood Canyons) for the next 20 year, 2040 respectfully. The final Plan will be presented in February 2010 to the county.
If you have ever passed through these canyons please take time to fill out the survey online to add your input to the plan so in the future we can be satisfied with the direction of policies and procedures for the canyons.
Do not be afraid if you are not an expert on the canyons, the survey is in Power Point form with maps and graphs to help illustrate watershed areas, recreation areas, roads, projected population, etc. which may affect your decisions.

Telluride Finals Run
Here is me. My legs were tired. It was steep. I skied through some rocks. Woop!
On Saturday I attended the Monster Energy AMA Supercross and now I want a motorcycle. I still don’t know much about the riders except that my crew of fellas said we wanted Weimer to win his class and for Reed to beat Stewart. I was ok with this since apparently Weimer is from Rupert, ID where the beer I was drinking came from. My girlfriend Mckenna said we also had to cheer for number 33(Gracyk) because she saw him once and he was cute. This made for some amazing racing.

There was fire.
The event started with some pyrotechnics that made me want sweet flames on the top of the mountain when I start a comp. Don’t get me wrong, I love the spirit of lighting off miniature ones at the finish, and getting yelled at for it when we accidentally shoot them into a passer byer, but this would be insane.

The smoke ring left by the flame.

HUGE smoke rings!
Both Weimer and Reed ended up 2nd. 33 fell over in the ‘last chance to make it to the finals’ heat but still almost managed to make, almost.
I think the coolest part, besides the energy and all round atmosphere, were when the riders would do a lense tear off in the air over this tripple before the last turn to the finish. So smooth and like, “what? i can’t see. nbd, i’ll just get that out of the way mid air. that’s better. SENDING!”
The boys did tell me that Chics don’t do Supercross, and if they did they would take waaaay longer to get around the course. I don’t know why this is because Chics who ride bikes are suposed to be pretty tough and practice just as hard as the Dudes.

Yes Please!
Anyway, this does not change the fact that I now want someone to teach me to do this. Any takers?
